The Cambrian in Northeast region, Mexico

Cambrian rocks in the Northeastern Region of Mexico include limestones, sandstones, and shales deposited in shallow to deep seas. They formed off the coast of Gondwana, across an ocean from Laurentia, and were brought to their present location by the motion and collision of tectonic plates. Over time, many of these rocks have been altered, buried below younger rocks, or eroded away. The few small exposures are too small to appear on this map, but other more detailed maps may show them.
