Paleontology and geology

For most of the Triassic, Saskatchewan was above sea level, and deposition was restricted to rivers, lakes, and lowlands. Many of the rocks from this period have been eroded, but deposits of reddish-colored sandstones and mudstones from the Late Triassic have been found in drill cores below the surface.
