Paleontology and geologyPrecambrian rocks are not exposed at the surface on Prince Edward Island, but information about them comes from drill cores in the region. These rocks, part of the Appalachian structural province, are mostly igneous and metamorphic rocks formed during a mountain-building event about 600 to 650 million years ago. |
