Paleontology and geology

There are no exposures of Jurassic rocks on Prince Edward Island. Information obtained from drill cores and by looking at Jurassic-age rocks elsewhere in eastern Canada shows us that fault-bounded basins, first formed during the Late Triassic as the supercontinent of Pangea began to rift apart, continue to fill with sediments through the Jurassic.
