Paleontology and geology

There are no exposures of Triassic rocks on Prince Edward Island. Information obtained from drill cores and by looking at Triassic-age rocks elsewhere in eastern Canada shows us that fault-bounded basins began to develop in the Late Triassic as the supercontinent of Pangea began to rift apart.
