Paleontology and geologyThe area that is now Colorado lay near the equator during the Cambrian and rocks of this period are primarily sandstones that lie on eroded Precambrian rocks. The Cambrian sandstones were deposited in a shallow sea that covered much of the state at this time. Burrows, tracks, and trails of marine animals can be found in some of these sandstones. |
