Paleontology and geology

The Silurian witnessed a continuation of limestone and dolostone deposition in western Texas. Although not visible on this map, these Silurian rocks are exposed at the surface in the Franklin Mountains near El Paso. Brachiopods and some coral fossils are known, but they are rare.
