Paleontology and geology

Rocks of Precambrian age are found in northwestern, southeastern, and south-central Connecticut. After millions of years of alteration by temperature and pressure, these rocks have been metamorphosed. Precambrian rocks in Connecticut are primarily gneiss. No fossils are found in these rocks.
