Paleontology and geologyBy the end of the Silurian, erosion of the mountains formed by the Taconic Orogeny in the Ordovician had ceased. Limy sediments were once again being deposited in a shallow sea that was home to numerous marine organisms, such as molluscs and echinoderms. Halysites and other corals formed large reef systems. |
